When the wind kicks up, thunder rolls and lightning crashes, it can be really scary for children. Their fears can, in turn, cause plenty of stress and sleepless nights for parents.
In the above video, Dr. Elizabeth Walenz, a pediatrician at Methodist Physicians Clinic – Regency, gives some tips for helping children cope with storms. She explains why it’s important to:
- Have a plan.
- Set an example by remaining calm.
- Avoid excessive news coverage.
- Read books.
